Imagine jealously asking, “Was I snoring again?” Or picture your friend angerly stating that, “There’s nothing sexier than a lawnmower!” It’s all in the way you say it! Moods is an endlessly entertaining game never short of hysterical laughter. It is the perfect icebreaker for a party, and an even better game for the family. Witness sides of your friends and relatives you never thought you‘d experience as they swallow their embarrassment and ”get moody!” Turn a dull afternoon into one of uncontrollable laughing and fun! Entertainment doesn’t get much better than this!

Moods is a game anyone can enjoy, from the casual game player to the most serious of game enthusiasts. It takes the emotions we all experience every day, from grouchy to excited, suspicious to flirtatious, angry to apologetic, and dishes them out with a twist: they are no longer in context. There are 60 moods, 120 phrases, and no telling what combination may be your next assignment. It’s all in the luck of the draw and the roll of the dice. Your success hinges on your ability to help the other players guess what mood you are portraying.

I was first introduced to Moods by my family on Christmas day. My family is not extremely fond of strategic games as I am; they prefer the more “normal” games such as Yahtzhee, Monopoly, and Life, with an occasional game of Clue. I, on the other hand, am usually up for more complexity and strategy. Growing up, it was always difficult to convince family members to share that same desire. Although Moods does not have the complexity necessary to satisfy someone looking for such a challenge, it can still be thoroughly enjoyed by all. Its strengths lie in the interpersonal aspect--its hard not to have fun when playing this game! I will never forget what fun I had seeing my quiet, introverted dad come alive while playing this game. I never knew he could be so animated!

This game is a hit around our parts and loved by nearly everyone we introduce it to. If you are looking for a party game that will draw people together, this would be a wonderful choice. If you have older children (over 12) this would also be a marvelous choice for a family game. I highly recommend it for endless hours of entertainment and laughter! It’s downright hilarious!
